Wrinkled Earth – Iron Elea
"Terre à Rides" (Land of Wrinkles) is an invitation to observe the marks of the world and time in a new light. It is not simply a graphic representation, but a reflection on our place within a larger whole. Through this interplay of lines, Elée Ferré reminds us that we are both spectators and participants in these silent transformations, that we are part of a whole that is constantly taking shape and being reshaped.
EnCarré Collection:
When nature reveals beauty to us, beauty that challenges and overwhelms us. The sight of fine lines becomes ingrained in us; we find them everywhere, nature abounds with them!
The moment comes when we too can see these lines, natural and ever-changing. We experience identical events.
Perhaps this is what it means to "be part of the Whole." Elée Ferré

Black ink on recycled paper.
EnCarré Collection
In "Terre à Rides" (Land of Wrinkles), Elée Ferré captures the minute patterns that run through nature and people, the lines etched by time and movement. The work situates the viewer within a dialogue between the mineral and the human, between the wrinkles of a landscape and those of a face, suggesting a continuity between natural erosion and the passage of years.
The black pen strokes create a surface where undulations intertwine, where each contour seems to have been shaped by an unseen breath. This interplay of fine, precise lines evokes the furrows of dry earth, the wrinkles of aging skin, or the imprints left by the wind on the sand. These marks, far from being mere motifs, become the testament to a cycle, a passage.
The artist explores the relationship between the individual and their environment. Just as nature transforms over time, we carry within us these same alterations, these same signs of evolution. The work suggests that these wrinkles, whether terrestrial or human, are not stigmas, but traces of belonging to the world, lines of memory that connect us to the universe.
The recycled paper support is part of this approach of continuity with living things. It situates the work in a humble materiality, where the idea of reuse echoes the infinite cycle of nature and the superimposition of layers of time.
