Review of the work “Fil bleu” by Sylvie Gedda
Sylvie Gedda, contemporary artist from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in France, presents a fascinating work entitled “Fil bleu”. This piece measuring 92 x 65 cm is a true exploration of depths, transparencies and plays of light, elements that the artist masters with unparalleled finesse.
Contextualization and training: Born to Russian, German and Italian immigrant grandparents, Gedda carries a rich cultural heritage. His solid artistic training, acquired at the School of Fine Arts in Bordeaux and the Sorbonne University in Paris, as well as his honorary title of Academic Knight of the Académie Internazionale Gréci Marino, is reflected in the sophistication of his works. After working for a long time on paint paste and making colors from pigments and linseed oil, Gedda turned to synthetic glass and epoxy resin, before returning to canvas, thus enriching her technique and his artistic perspective.
Analysis of the Work: “Fil bleu” is a perfect example of this evolution. The work is distinguished by a mastered use of diaphanous colors and fluid shapes, evoking delicate and organic movements. The canvas captures the evanescence of colors which seem to blend and move, creating a striking depth and transparency. The dominant shades of blue contrast subtly with touches of black and white, creating a captivating play of light. The full, round shapes, reminiscent of feminine elements, add a dimension of softness and sensuality. Gedda succeeds in making color dance on the canvas, like a choreographer plays with space, light and movement in a ballet.
Awards and Recognition: The exceptional quality of “Blue Thread” and other similar works earned Gedda 1st prize at the RankArt abstract painting show in April 2016, among 650 submissions. This recognition underlines the mastery of her art and the emotional depth that she manages to transmit.
Exhibitions and Impact: Sylvie Gedda 's work has been widely recognized and exhibited in prestigious venues such as the Grand Palais and the Center Beaubourg in Paris, as well as at international exhibitions in Greece, Turkey, Finland, Switzerland, Italy and in the Antilles. Her influence and impact extended well beyond France's borders, notably when she was a guest at the Auditorio de Gondomar in Porto during the city's nomination as European Capital of Art in 2001.
