At the dawn of renewal – Françoise Dugourd-Caput
At the Dawn of Renewal is a painting of transition and transformation, where the city becomes the stage for a new beginning. Through her mastery of color, light, and texture, Françoise Dugourd -Caput creates a work of great urban and meditative sensitivity. It is a pictorial dawn, but also a symbolic one: that of hope, of renewal, of what is reborn despite the shadows. A work imbued with life, subtle and resolutely turned toward the light.

Review of the work " At the Dawn of Renewal" by Françoise Dugourd -Caput
With At the Dawn of Renewal , Françoise Dugourd -Caput offers a poetic and luminous vision of an imaginary urban landscape, seemingly frozen in anticipation of daybreak. The canvas opens onto an almost unreal scene, bathed in a rising light that seems to dispel shadows, awaken matter, and revive colors. It is not simply a city that emerges, but a pivotal moment between night and hope, between silence and life.
An abstract city, bordering on a dream: The urban landscape, while recognizable by the verticality of its towers and the grid of its volumes, remains deliberately blurred, almost spectral. The buildings have no sharp outlines; the windows are suspended points of light. This lack of figurative precision allows the imagination to roam freely. One sees in it both a metropolis and the memory of an inner world in flux.
A vibrant, light-filled material: The mixed media technique, combining acrylic and oil applied with a palette knife, gives the surface a textured density, rich in reliefs and transparencies. Certain areas, particularly the facades and foliage, seem to crackle in the light. The impasto of color suggests movements of energy, as if the city were breathing, slowly warming under the first rays of dawn.
A chromatic palette in transition: The canvas is built on a range of warm and cool contrasts: the deep blue of the towers and the night sky opposes the orangey gold of dawn. This clash of light is not abrupt, but gradual, like a dissolve between night and day. Violet, omnipresent in the lower zone, acts as a membrane between the two states. Everything seems to be in slow flux.
