Meeting – Elée Ferré

Drawing is thus a space for reflection as much as a space for sensation: an invitation to question our own exchanges, our own trajectories, and the mystery of what connects us to each other.

The Great Spaces Collection:
Within a single space, encounters take place.
What is each person's place?
What are the contributions, the exchanges between these worlds?
What flows define this exchange: meaning – flow – continuity?
Mysteries to experience, to discover, to come… Elée Ferrée

Review of "Rencontre-s" by Elée Ferré

Recycled purple ink on recycled paper – 50 x 75 cm
Grands Espaces Collection

With "Rencontre-s" (Meetings) , Elée Ferré explores the dynamics of exchange, the place of each individual in a shared space, and the invisible flows that weave our relationships. Here, the drawing, applied with pen and purple ink, seems to embody a cartography of connections, a network of tensions and curves that intersect, avoid, intertwine, or harmonize.

The choice of the plural in the title – “Meetings” – underscores the multitude of possible interpretations. It is not a single exchange, but a series of dynamic interactions, trajectories that overlap and rewrite each other. Each line could represent an individual, an idea, a thought that evolves and transforms through contact with others.

In this work, emptiness is as important as line. Some spaces are dense, saturated with intertwined lines, while other areas breathe, allowing for anticipation, a sense of latency. Herein lies one of the strengths of Ferré's work: a composition that doesn't simply freeze forms, but suggests forces at play, tensions, and silences.

The violet ink, less common than black, used in his work, adds a new dimension. It evokes passage, transition, a hue that oscillates between shadow and light. The repurposing of ink and paper is part of the artist's overall approach: that of a thoughtful art, rooted in an economy of gesture and support , where each element has its own story and weight in the final composition.

But what are these encounters? The question posed by the artist remains open. Are we witnessing a peaceful dialogue or a friction between opposing forces? What flows govern these exchanges: a defined meaning, an irregular pace, a fragile or assured continuity?

By playing on this tension between connection and isolation, Ferré invites us to an active reading, where the gaze moves between the lines, attempting to follow their path, to deduce a narrative that is uniquely its own. As is often the case in his work, the artist offers us an immersive experience where each person finds their place and their own interpretation.
