Color window film in chromotherapy

Colors are not only related to the aesthetic aspect, they are also part of life. Chromotherapy is a natural energetic discipline which sometimes uses colored glazing in the mass or by a “ colored window film ”, with a specific therapeutic aim: to help us better control our emotions.

Understanding how colors work is important for any designer who wants to make their designs more effective. This is also the case for interior designers, when they imagine decorative projects for our homes.

Several techniques are available to them, such as colored or frosted glazing, and plastic films that are glued directly to the windows.

Glazed surfaces are increasingly used in architecture. They are everywhere in our homes, apartments and offices, to our greatest satisfaction.

Do you know that they can sometimes be useful to us to better manage our emotions? We are very sensitive to the language of colors.

Colored glazing

A color window film or mass-colored glazing transforms the atmosphere of a living room or office and enhances privacy. It is a product which, depending on its classification, can be used to keep heat, as a decorative element, or to provide privacy. The colored films are also a protection for the glazing glass.

Light therapy also uses manufactured products in the form of films on light lamps that imitate the sun's rays. It acts with a dozen colors following different wavelengths, each of which has a specific therapeutic effect. However, we can distinguish them into two groups, warm colors and cold colors.

Colorful self-adhesive film

What if you tried the experiment of coloring your windows and panes with adhesive or self-adhesive film?

Window film is an effective and easy to use product. It lets the sun's rays pass through to keep only one shade.

First of all, you need to do an impact assessment with some samples.

Do not forget that a window is not a mirror, its coloring depends on the intensity of light passing through it. Once you have made your choice, make sure that the product is available on the market, especially if you want to include a particular pattern.

Thanks to window films often presented in roll form, it is easy to treat any type of glazing. There is a complete choice of adhesive film, static film, at all prices.

You no longer need to change windows in your house. The product avoids complicated delivery of heavy and fragile windows. The techniques are simple, which allows us to better enjoy our interiors and our workplaces at a lower cost.

The window becomes a decorative element.

The colored window film can be transparent, opaque or frosted, adhesive or self-adhesive. There are many patterns, star patterns are very popular. Translucent, the film lets light pass through without altering it. With the window film, you can easily replace the tints.

If you have a veranda, the use of colored glass, more than on a window, transforms the view you have from the outside. A colorful starry sky is a great experience.

Frosted glazing.

The abrasive water-frosted glazing is decorative. It reinforces warm colors and the feeling of warmth and well-being. Frosted white is widely used for the intimate. It hides the shapes. But, it is also a very elegant decorative element. The “frosted” of the glass, more or less accentuated, makes it more or less opaque and obscuring. Used in the bathroom, it must comply with safety rules. There is a safety classification depending on the desired glazing.

Here are the main advantages of using color on glass:

  • Personalizing your home.
  • The light transforms to your liking. Orange, for an “evening sun” atmosphere for example.
  • A judicious choice of color depending on the room will affect your mood.
  • It is also a way to follow the recommendations of a therapist specializing in light and chromotherapy directly in your home.

Other glass coloring techniques

With colored glazing, a layer of glaze is applied to a surface which will also act as protection. The color of the glaze depends on its composition and the color of the original glass.

  • Stained glass: Stained glass is made up of pieces of colored glass assembled by lead rods. It was with the appearance of blown then flattened glass, which appeared from the 5th century, that this technique invaded the Western world. Stained glass will be used throughout the Middle Ages and up to the present day. Beyond the representation of often religious scenes, it is the entire symbolism of light that is expressed.
  • Colorized glass: the artist paints directly on the surface of the glass with transparent paint. This technique was very popular in the 19th century. If you have an artistic soul, nothing stops you from painting yourself.
  • Mosaic. The use of colored enamels dates back around 5,000 years. In Roman times, it was present on mosaic designs with colored glass.

The language of colors

Color takes place in many decorative elements. What we know less is that it has an effect on our mood. It can even heal us if used wisely. We talk about wavelength to scientifically distinguish pigments. Our eyes capture a color range from 500 to 670 nm. It goes from green to red.

What reading can we make of it?

  • Greens promote relaxation. It is the color of chlorophyll, of nature. Green soothes and rebalances the body and mind.
  • Yellow is the color of the sun. It stimulates and helps us to take things on the positive side.
  • Orange symbolizes joy. It deeply tones the body and energizes communication and creativity.
  • Red, color of blood, heat and energy. It can cause aggression.
  • Blue is often a popular color. Color of the sky and spirituality.

Nowadays, the windows take on colors for our greatest pleasure. Used for well-being, this technique is also useful for improving our health.
