The road – Jicé
This work depicts the encounter between water and indefinite landscapes. It explores the interactions between natural and human elements. Jicé , through its refined use of mediums and colors, manages to represent an enigmatic landscape in constant mutation, where the path (or the road ) is never totally defined. This diptych offers a subtle reflection on the fluidity of time, spaces and environments, while remaining faithful to the artist's unique aesthetic approach.

Review of the work “The Road” by Jicé
The work is a diptych made with acrylic paint and materials on coated canvas. Jicé's painting is a fascinating exploration of the theme of water. The nuances are subtle and play a central role in the composition. In an imposing format of two panels measuring 114 cm by 162 cm, this work expresses the fluidity of water by creating an omnipresent visual tension.
The theme of water, although present in the softness of light shades and vaporous brushstrokes, is counterbalanced by the incorporation of more raw materials reminiscent of industrial constructions. Jicé manages to integrate these two worlds, traditionally opposed, into an abstract vision where the landscape incorporates these elements. The result is a blurred scene with an atmosphere that leaves room for the viewer's imagination. The table suggests a strong presence of natural and manufactured elements.
The color palette is dominated by cream tones, soft yellows and deep grays, punctuated by touches of rusty orange, perhaps boats or pontoons. These touches of warmer colors provide a contrast which reinforces the sensation of movement and change, particularly in the transition between the two panels of the diptych.
The layers of material applied to the canvas create reliefs with a tactile appearance. They evoke the effects of erosion or natural decomposition on artificial surfaces. The material sometimes seems to float, as if to reveal what lies beneath. This gives the work an almost archaeological dimension, as if Jicé sought to explore not only the visible surface, but also the invisible layers of time and space.
The abstract nature of the work deliberately leaves room for multiple interpretations. You can see a coastal landscape dissolving into the mist or a port area. Water and urban structures coexist in a fragile balance. The aquatic element is omnipresent, but indefinite, both fluid and threatening, capable of shaping landscapes and modifying environments. The movements of water, suggested by the fluid curves and streaks on the canvas, reinforce this idea of transformation and movement.
The use of acrylic, combined with various mediums, allows Jicé to play with the effects of transparency and opacity, accentuating the enigmatic dimension of the work. This technical choice adds a particular depth to the whole, where acrylic, often used for its rapid drying, allows Jicé to work in successive layers, thus creating complex visual reading levels.
