Analysis of the work “Arborescence” by Sylvie Gedda
“Arborescence”, a work measuring 40 x 40 cm created by the artist Sylvie Gedda, is distinguished by its exceptional quality and brilliance. Comparable to a jewel, this small work reveals Gedda's technical mastery and artistic sensitivity.
Sylvie Gedda, whose grandparents were Russian, German and Italian immigrants, resides and creates in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. She has a solid academic background, having studied at the Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux, obtained a degree in visual arts at the Sorbonne University in Paris, and graduated from the Institut Acadomique de Paris. This training allowed him to develop a refined artistic approach, centered on depth, transparencies and the play of light, mainly thanks to the use of epoxy paste on several thicknesses and on a wooden support.
“Arborescence” is an explosion of color and organic shapes, evoking the complexity and beauty of natural structures. The color palette, dominated by shades of green, blue, orange and white, creates a dynamic and harmonious composition. The shapes appear to expand and branch, like branches or roots, creating a sense of movement and growth.
The epoxy paste technique, applied in successive layers, allows you to play with light and reflections, adding a dimension of depth and transparency. The varied textures and color contrasts catch the eye and invite the viewer to explore every detail of the work.
Although Gedda's preferred medium is synthetic glass, this work demonstrates her ability to work on wood with great skill. Epoxy paste, used masterfully here, helps capture and reflect light, adding an almost three-dimensional quality to the work. Each layer of color is carefully applied to maximize visual impact and create striking transparency effects.
